My name is Richard Ashdown and I started the Mistybrook kennel in 1998 with the arrival of my foundation bitch Courtridge Chelsea ( Sian )
Training , breeding and working my dogs is my hobby and my passion and I have spent the past 22 years always trying to improve the training and the breeding
I have qualified three home bred dogs for the IGL Retriever Championships and made up two UK Field trial champions. I am very proud to train and work dogs that I have bred and reared and have them with me all their lives.
In 2013 two dogs from the 'T' litter Tuscan & Tegan qualified for the retriever championships.
Most of my breeding will have found working homes and can be seen season after season doing what comes naturally and I hope to continue providing talented and biddable working dogs for many years to come

Training my dogs is not my day job, it is my passion and hobby but I am always happy to advise or help with a training problem if asked
Over the years I have seen many training issues that dogs struggle with
the most common being 'handler error'

No amount of money or training aids can ever replace a calm and consistent approach to your training and an ability to see things from the dogs perspective !
The most important thing is to enjoy your dogs and your training !

All my dogs are trained at home with the emphasis on establishing obedience and a good delivery early on
I am not a professional trainer but I try to be committed in the time I can give to training my dogs with a calm but consistent approach to their training
My training kit consists of a lead, a whistle, a bag of dummies and an endless supply of patience!
